By Bill Protresi

Doing a web hosting comparison does not have to be a huge headache. If you do your research, you will avoid common pitfalls. Many people end up relying on biased opinions. Be aware that many sites out there ranking web hosting services are being paid to recommend you certain companies.

Also make note of exactly what you want and need before doing an online web hosting comparison. For example, if fast web hosting is a necessity, narrow down your choices to the fastest providers to make your search a lot faster.

If you have your priorities down and know exactly what services and features you are looking for, fancy extras and freebies won”t sway your opinion. Furthermore, decide on a price range for the monthly payments you would be willing to pay and remember that choosing something solely because it is the cheapest is a mistake.

On the other hand, higher monthly payments do not determine that a service is better than its cheaper counterparts so do your homework. There are other factors that will play a bigger part in determining the quality and reliability of a particular service provider.

Clarify Your Wants and Needs Prior to Doing a Web Hosting Comparison

First decide on the kind of web hosting service you are looking for. There is everything from E-Commerce webhosting to Dedicated webhosting to Budget webhosting. If you want a site that is simple and affordable, your choice should be Budget webhosting. If you want to sell products online, you need E-Commerce webhosting.

Learning about your options and the type of hosting service that suits your needs is the very first step you must take. Once you decide on the kind of hosting you need, learn about the minimum services and features you should expect. At the minimum you should expect 24/7 customer support, large bandwidth, and between 99% to 99.9% uptime. Then determine how much bandwidth and disk space as well as how many email accounts you need.

Once you know more or less what you are looking for, find a website that is not tied to any one company to do a web hosting comparison. Many sites provide charts that help you compare the different companies more easily. In order to make the most of your web hosting comparison, when you can narrow your list down to the top 10-20, read real customer reviews on open forums in order to find out whether the companies live up to their claims.

If you follow these tips, doing a web hosting comparison and deciding on a service provider will be less time-consuming and most of all, you are more likely to be satisfied with your final choice.

About The Author

Bill Protresi is an online providing tips and advice.
Combining affordability and functionality with quality design and features could allow many web-based businesses to consider developing affiliate sites or spin a popular product or service to it''s own domain. So why aren''t more entrepreneurs doing so?

By Scott Lindsay

How important is your website design? It could be you have a very specific look and feel in mind for your website and that vision can only be forged by a master web designer. But what if you have an ecommerce store you”d like to open and you require a simple, yet customizable web hosting and design solution?

What if you want a professional look, but have a limited budget?

For those just starting their journey into web-based business the notion of paying a few thousand dollars to develop a new site may be impractical and unattainable. However, there is no denying that a website should project a high level of professionalism.

There is a secondary group of entrepreneurs that also seek a professionally designed site, but want to develop a secondary or additional sites designed to provide a very specific affiliate portal for a product or service that has done well for the site owner.

Since affiliate programs offers residual income, most business owners want a cost effective way to develop a site that provides easy site development, well-designed layout and the ability to launch quickly.

If an online business owner can find a combination of easy development, affordability and site owner controls they may discover that several affiliate sites could be developed quickly with an end result that positively impacts their bottom line.

There are web hosting options that were built specifically with the online business owner in mind. These resources provide template designs that allow you to customize a site in a very short period of time. Some businesses have found they can actually develop and launch a new ecommerce site in less than 24 hours. Some have even launched the site in a matter of minutes.

The development of these sites can be done using a built in shopping cart, catalogue or photo albums for product review and identification, online ordering and feedback forms, domain specific email addresses, and other features including autoresponders.

Sometimes a product is a best seller and deserves to be in a spotlight of its own. Businesses have spun these products onto a site of their own and provided a link from their primary site to the newly developed site that keys in very specifically to that product or service.

The good news is there are site development tools available at a cost that can actually allow you to consider the possibilities of developing a new site with affordable development tools and maximum market impact. Viability is more than just a buzzword, it’’s a highly defined reality in the realm of affordable site design and hosting options.

About The Author

Make A Website in minutes with the Website Builder at HighPowerSites.com.
Many of the free forum hosting sites allow users to determine the style and layout of their individual sites as well as link to them from their business or personal websites.

By Bill Protresi

Many companies and individuals use the internet as a community of like-minded individuals to share thoughts and ideas and there are many different free forum hosting sites that provide this capability. While some businesses may require a bit more versatility with their forums, the availability of free forum hosting makes this unique method of communication available to nearly everyone.

Many of the free forum hosting sites allow users to determine the style and layout of their individual sites as well as link to them from their business or personal websites. For example, families can use the free forum hosting in conjunction with their personal web hosting site to allow all members of the family to post information about family events. Birthday party pictures and other life-changing events can be shared with everyone, regardless of where they live as all they need is access to the internet to view the information.

Information sharing is also available with many of the free forum hosting sites, allowing consumers to share their delight as well as dismay with how certain companies conduct business. Owners of these forums should retain the right to view and delete certain items on their free forum hosting sites to prevent them from being used for illegal or immoral purposes. While some laws may indicate that information posted on forums are not the responsibility of the site owner, keeping it clean and relevant to the site can help boost business acceptance.

Forums Makes Customer Contact Easier

Numerous businesses allow customers to access their forums and free forum hosting gives all companies, regardless of their size, the opportunity to offer this idea and information sharing without a lot of effort. Experienced users may opt for a more complicated site, but most of the free forum hosting companies help even the novice forum host get their site up and running quickly.

Typically, to begin using free forum hosting registration will be required with only the bare information requested to help keep tabs on the people establishing a forum. Sharing of ideas can also be used by companies when they have people spread across the country or around the globe and a moderator can help pull all the information together.

In today’’s business climate, the need to control costs is a concern to every business owner and a free forum hosting site can help do just that. Businesses can offer this service on their website and glean the input from their visitors to help them better meet the needs of the consumer.

About The Author

Bill Protresi is an online providing tips and advice.
For those that do not want or need all the bells and whistles on their web site, cheap web hosting may be the perfect way to get their business posted along the information highway, allowing them to build their business and profit margin while they become accessible to internet users.

By Bill Protresi

There is something to be said about cheap web hosting, especially for business just getting started with an internet venture as well as for those wanting their own personal space online. For those that do not want or need all the bells and whistles on their web site, cheap web hosting may be the perfect way to get their business posted along the information highway, allowing them to build their business and profit margin while they become accessible to internet users.

Depending on the size of the business, many companies have found cheap web hosting to be the ideal way to stay within their budget while they dive into the internet pool. There are some offers that allow a business or an individual to have a quality internet site for about $50 a year, without the need to allow third-party ads to appear on their site. They can also add their own advertisers to help pay the low cost of cheap web hosting.

One caution should be exercised when considering cheap web hosting and that is the sustainability of the site host. Many companies have quality and dependable equipment, but some of them use questionable equipment, making the sites they host unavailable during peak times of usage. If the company offering cheap web hosting cannot keep their sites up and running, they are not doing their customers any favors. Choosing the host carefully and based on their reputation can help keep the business available on line.

Look For Hosts” Available Options

Many companies offer cheap web hosting but when choosing one, it is important to consider the types of services that are included in the package. While the number of email addresses available may be important to some businesses, the ability to use specific scripts will be important to many others. The amount of available bandwidth, which can range from one to a few thousand gigabytes, will help determine the amount of information that can be exchanged with the cheap web hosting site.

As a business grows, they can improve their web site by signing up with a company that offers affordable web hosting, often offering sites that can hold and exchange more information at a price they can afford. How a business owner gets their information to the cheap web hosting site may be limited to file transfer protocol, but many of the affordable sites offer more options, enabling the company to maintain their site through more than one method.

About The Author

Bill Protresi is an online providing tips and advice.
With so many hosting options available, it can be rather confusing what to go with. This isn''t referring to the many hosting plans that are on the market.

By Amy Nutt

With so many hosting options available, it can be rather confusing what to go with. This isn”t referring to the many hosting plans that are on the market. This is referring to whether you should use VMware hosting, dedicated hosting, or shared hosting. In this case, we”re talking about VMware virtualized hosting and dedicated hosting since you want your website to exist on its own server and not have to share with others. The point is, it is a large decision to make.

VMware Virtualized Hosting

VMware virtualized hosting is different from any other hosting that you may research. You”ll find that it exists on a virtual server that operates independent of any operating system instead of it existing on a physical server that operates an operating system such as Windows. Servers usually have to have an operating system to rely on, but VMware virtualized hosting does not. It is an effective IT solution for your business when you want to manage your server in-house and want to do so in an effective manner.

VMware virtualized hosting also allows you to get multiple servers running in a matter of minutes without having to purchase any new hardware. If you have your own servers in which you require hardware, you can actually combine your VMware virtualized hosting and your hardware servers to make it all more manageable. Basically, you”re creating several virtual machines that are operating in one centralized area. This can save you both manpower and a lot of time. If something happens to your server hardware, you can quickly create more virtual servers to back yourself up. You technically have your own data center at your disposal that can do anything you need it to do with your hosting.

Dedicated hosting

Dedicated hosting is hosting in which the business leases a server that is not used by anyone else. It is not like shared hosting where several customers share the same server. This is a server in which you, the customer, can have complete control over it or you can go for managed hosting that allows the hosting company to take care of your server for you. If you have any problems, you simply have your hosting company take care of it. If you choose to do things in-house, you consult with your own IT department. It is what you find to be more cost-effective for you that determines how your server is managed. If you can afford an IT staff, you can do that. However, if you find that paying for managed hosting is the better solution, you can go that route as well.

The main difference between VMware virtualized hosting and dedicated hosting is the fact that you have to have the actual hardware with dedicated hosting. You can choose your hardware, your operating system, and other elements, but it can be costly. VMware does not require hardware, is not reliable on an operating system, and is vey cost-effective. As stated before, you have the ability to manage multiple servers in one centralized location. You do manage it on your own, but it takes very little manpower to make sure everything is up and running and to operate multiple servers.

Which is better?

Of course it is up to you as to what route you want to take when choosing a server for your website. You may choose that you want the hardware and other options that comes with dedicated servers. Then again, you may choose that you want to take the low cost route of VMware virtualized hosting and having a small staff manage it. Each has their own set of benefits, but only one is the solution for you.

About The Author

Having a managed hosting services is crucial for any web application development demanding high-availability and performance. We are CICA 5970 and SAS 70 Certified, which is the highest available standards for measuring and improving data center operations and management.

By Steve Johnson

No one likes spam email - customers, clients, and even business owners cannot always handle the amount of spam that comes from one email address placed in a public space on the web. So if you have a website, you will want to check out these five tips that will help to reduce the spam that gets into your inbox.

1.	Limit the number of emails that you give out to your customers and post on websites. If you post more than one email address on a website, you will experience twice as many unwanted emails. And if you run a business, you should never post your personal email anywhere on your website.
2.	You can include tools such as CAPTCHA (Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart). This is a small box on your website where you can have words or numbers that come up and the visitors to your site will have to type these in before they are allowed to send messages to you. This prevents automated spam from slipping through.
3.	Use web forms instead of giving out your email address. This will let your visitors contact you without ever having to see your email address. This may not cut down on all the spam, but at least you know the spam you are getting was typed by a real person.
4.	If you need to give out your email address, spell it out on your website. Leave out the @ symbol so that it is harder for spam bots to recognize it as an email address. Customers that want to send you an email will understand what you mean when you spell it out. Better still create a jpg/gif images of your email address, so that the visitor/customer can see your email address, but the spammers will no be able to find it so easily.
5.	If all else fails, you can require a registration for your website. This will let visitors leave you comments and questions. This prevents any spam bots from contacting you or pulling your email address from your website.

These tips are just some of the ways that you can prevent spam on your website. There are obviously many more but this should help to heavy reduce the level of spam emails you receive. If you have a paid web hosting service, most providers now have Junk Mail Filtering services including with their hosting plans or at an additional charge.

About The Author

S Johnson writes on a number of topics including web hosting, domain name registration, e-commerce, SEO and SEM, Email & Spam for Email Only Hosting UK Company - Falcoda Internet

By Kevin Sinclair

Web 2.0 is as yet something of a nebulous term, with as many different definitions out there as people defining it. This naturally can lead to some confusion. O”Reilly Media, an American company who have been one of the leaders in web development book publishing since the internet was in its infancy, came up with the term in a 2003 meeting. Tim O”Reilly and Dale Dougherty, the founders of the company coined the term.

You can find a technical definition of Web 2.0 on Tim O”Reilly’’s blog, but most will be left more confused than before upon reading it. O”Reilly has taken this five page definition and put it into (somewhat) simpler language:

“Web 2.0 is the network as platform, spanning all connected devices; Web 2.0 applications are those that make the most of the intrinsic advantage of that platform; delivering software as a continually-updated service that gets better the more people use it, consuming and remixing data from multiple sources, including individual users, while providing their own data and services in a form that allows remixing by others, creating network effects through an “architecture of participation,” and going beyond the page metaphor of Web 1.0 to deliver rich user experiences.”

The advancements that have been made in computing over the last 25 years are astounding. From DOS to today’’s portable devices, Web 2.0 is just another step along the same path; one which promises to make the web a more interactive place and more fun to visit. The transition from Web 1.0 to Web 2.0 can be likened to this - with the web the way it is now, we are like spectators at a football game. In Web 2.0, we will be active participants; as if we were on one of the teams playing the game.

What are the differences between the two? For one, Web 2.0 will look different, with bright colors against white backgrounds, rounded fonts and an all over easy to read format are predicted to become the norm. Arial Rounded and Tahoma will replace Times New Roman and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) will be more heavily used to keep websites more streamlined.

The functionality of Web 2.0 will also be different. MySpace, Twitter and the like are a glimpse at the future, with interaction between user and site being possible. The Web will continue bringing people together to interact and communicate.

Social bookmarking as well as networking will be a big part of Web 2.0. Yahoo Answers is a good example, with people having to ask questions about anything, with users earning points for their answers.

Blogging is something which is often thought of in connection with Web 2.0. Just like a diary, blogging lets people write about anything they like; with the difference being that anyone can now read it. A blog can of course be kept private, but most bloggers prefer to share their thoughts.

The exchange of information between web users overall is a big part of what Web 2.0 is about. Article writing has become a popular activity, with people using them to promote websites or provide information to the public as a whole.

Flickr and YouTube have ushered in an age of picture and video sharing, with interaction possible between poster and viewer.

All this of course is only a hint of things to come. As we see an increasing number of websites moving towards the Web 2.0 standard, there will be uses for the internet which we haven”t even thought of yet. And who knows what Web 3.0 will bring….

About The Author

Kevin Sinclair is the publisher and editor of Be Successful News, a site that provides information and articles on how to succeed in your own home or small business.

By Steve Johnson

A web hosting service is a great way to get your website out on the internet. But if you decide that you web hosting service just isn”t working, you do have the option to take your site somewhere else where you can get better services. Don”t get sucked into paying more for mediocre service when you can easily trade your old hosting service for a new one.

First, you will want to research where you want to host your website next. This will seem boring and maybe time consuming, but you need to do your research in order to end up with a web hosting service that is better than the one you are moving from. Make sure that the web hosting service you choose will also allow for expansion of services and space as your business grows.

Next, you will want to schedule the time you want to spend moving your site over. Even if you have to end up paying a month of web hosting for both services, you will end up only have a few hours or less of downtime if you take awhile to move your site to its new host. Any problems may arise during the transfer should be easily fixed before the new site is up and running.

But before you move a single file, you will want to make backup copies of everything. This will make sure that you will not lose any files in the process of moving your website. Make sure you test your site before starting the transfer process! There is usually a test or temp URL you can use for this purpose.

Having moved hundreds of sites myself over the years, I usually change the name servers on a Friday night to the new web hosting company. These changes usually take from 2-24 hours to take effect. Double check the next day to make sure your site has transferred and that your website is working correctly.

Next, if you wish to transfer the domain name over to your new web hosting company, this can be done at your own leisure as it does not effect any services you have with your new web host.

If anything changes on your website, such as email addresses or the main domain name, you will want to have a way to notify customers. You can forward the email address to a new one, or you can always just send out an email to your customers.

About The Author

S Johnson writes on a number of topics including web hosting, domain name registration, e-commerce, SEO and SEM, Email & Spam for Cheap Web Hosting UK Company - Falcoda Internet

You will generate more interest in your business, and more traffic to your site, by establishing solid business relationships through social networking.

By Sameep Shah

Today, anyone with access to a computer can become a member of a social network. Social networks are online communities comprised of individuals with common interests or goals. Social networks can be used to exchange information, offer advice, or to communicate with others just for fun.

Becoming a member of a reputable social network can significantly increase your customer database and site traffic. Through social networking, you are given the opportunity to connect with people in your line of work, people in related fields, and potential clients looking for the product or service your business offers.

Building relationships with other business owners can result in referrals for your own business as well as the chance to work with another business owner to reach a common goal. Potential clients are able to learn more about your business firsthand and will already have a level of comfort regarding your expertise.

Social networks are springing up all over the world. Some networks, such as Facebook and MySpace, are available in multiple countries. Facebook, once considered to be only a social tool for teenagers, is becoming more accepted as a legitimate social network for small business owners.

The Facebook subscriber base is extensive, and you will be able to reach prospective customers as well as other small business owners. LinkedIn is a popular professional social network, with members representing over 150 different industries.

LinkedIn members are able to offer advice to other business owners and also ask for guidance from other members.

There are usually several different ways to communicate with the other social network members. Once contact information is exchanged, members can communicate with each other through Email or instant messaging (IM). You can present your business information through pictures, videos or blogs on your network page. Members can leave comments on your page, and you can quickly provide them with the information or resources they need.

Social networking is often used by small businesses for business-to-business (B2B) marketing. A professional social network, such as LinkedIn, allows business owners to share their personal experiences with other business owners and also find owners interested in either buying from or working with their business.

The sage advice you will receive through social networking can help direct your efforts for adjusting and improving your Web site, business practices, and marketing techniques.
Great looking designs are step one to a high converting website.

By Daniel Millions

If you have aspirations to build a website for whatever reason, are you aware that it is not necessary for you to learn HTML or CSS beforehand. If you are looking to set up a site that displays your hobby, has information about your favorite movie or perhaps you want to set up a business, then best decision you can make is to use a website template.

These are basically designed by someone else and then offered free of charge or for a small fee. There are plenty of places on the internet that offer these and it should not take too long for you to find one that you like. This article will discuss some of the major benefits for choosing a template above learning to design your from scratch.

So why should you choose a pre-designed template? There are a few answers to this question. The most important one I have already mentioned. Whilst it is always positive if you can understand the technical language that makes up a web page, the template basically allows you move beyond this and so the whole process is much quicker for you. It has been my ambition to learn HTML for some time now. I think that it would be great to be able to design my own sites, but alas along with a lot of people it is difficult to find the time. This is where these great templates become really valuable. Basically, the hard work is already done for you.

Also, by choosing a template you are automatically avoiding the hassle of detecting and removing coding errors. At any reputable website that sells templates you can expect that this has already been done for you. Therefore a pre-designed template can save you a lot of time.

Another great benefit of website templates is the amount of choice that is on offer. Some people perhaps envisage a series of dull and basic html sites when a template is suggested. However the truth is that there is now a wide variety of templates that will suit every type of topic that you can imagine.

However, when choosing the template try to pick one that is not that popular. You can see this by the number of downloads that have been made next to the product description box. Once you have the HTML code for the template you should modify it anyway. Changing the color scheme, font sizes and so on is easy to learn and should not take much of your time.

If you decide to choose a template then you are also going to benefit by saving money. If you are unable to program a website yourself then it can be very expensive to hire a web design team to do it for you. The website templates are definitely a viable alternative. There are plenty of places online that offer quality templates and some are even free.

Another great reason to choose a web template is the variety of options available. Typically you will expect to build a site that is either HTML (the most popular) or in Flash. Dependent on what it is that you plan to use your site for, both are great designs. The good news is that you can find website templates that have been designed in both versions.

About The Author

If you are looking for high quality website templates and flash designs Dream Line Studio is the Internets authority resource.
